L’oréal Infallible Pro-Matte

Oily Ladies take a seat, have I got a treat for you!

I picked up this baby merely with the intentions of reviewing it here, I did not expect to fall in love with it. But I have seriously worn it every day since I have bought it a few weeks ago! In fact, one of my friends who wears high end makeup exclusively pulled me aside to ask what I was wearing because the finish and coverage was so beautiful – THANK YOU Infallible Pro-Matte!

Quick breakdown: I paid around $11.99 and it is 1.0 fl oz squeezy tube with 12 shades in the range.

It is described as a  ‘Demi-Matte’ foundation that is airtight and medium coverage and 24 hour wear. And I have to say it lives up to most of it’s claims! Maybe not the 24 hour one… but I personally don’t think ANYTHING should stay on your face that long. gross.

2015-01-21 09.16.54My weapon of choice for application is the  beauty blender, as I am so stylishly modeling the two together for you here. Even though it says its airlight, I find it too heavy when I use my brush. I would definitely recommend the beauty blender if you want seamless, lightweight makeup.

As for the other claims:

‘Demi-Matte’ is spot on. It almost looks velvety on the skin verses a dry chalky look some put mattes can have.

Coverage you can sheer out to light but is mostly a true medium. The formulation allows for some building, but it not quite full.

2015-01-21 10.00.44Here you can see the foundation on the left side of my face- it gives good, even coverage but certainly not full.

Air light– this again the one claim I have some quaff with- The texture itself is rather dense- it is not liquify at all (it won’t drip off the back of your hand by any means) It does blend in very nicely and looses some of its thickness, but it is not as lightweight as the very thin, watery foundations. HOWEVER– this IS one of the lightest mattefying foundations I have tried while not disappearing or disintegrating into nothingness! It has the velvety finish of the Becca Ever Matte and the Make Up Forever Mat Velvet, but manages to control my oil better! While the mentioned foundations look FANTASTIC the first few hours, with someone who has as oily skin as me they separate within three hours and end up looking disgusting and goopy, or just disappear within the pool of oil slithering across my face. At least in my opinion.

2015-01-21 10.10.26Here is my foundation complete with some concealing around my eyes and where else a little boost of coverage was needed- I think you can agree that this baby gives beautiful velvet skin! I still powder (some people have mentioned that they do not need to set this foundation as it dries quickly- I am far too oily to rely on this foundation alone) but it certainly sets weightless and does not FEEl heavy at all.

Don’t get me wrong, this is not my holy grail, ‘will-never-buy-another-foundation-because-this-is-perfection’ kind of foundation. I still get oily and need to blot or powder throughout the day, but it stays a million times better throughout all of that than any of the high end foundations I have tried (and believe me, I have tried so, so so so so so SO many of those)

And this baby does stay put pretty well– typically by the time I take my makeup off there is little foundation left on my face (I tend to wallow my face in the couch and grasp at my cheeks in distress numerous times throughout the day. don’t judge) However there is always a LOT of foundation coming off. I mean a lot.

A slight complaint I have is that the colors do seem to oxidize a little bit- so just be aware.

Here is my finished look for the day; the foundation gives such a nice base I feel like I can manipulate it into light or dramatic makeup days- Bonus for me!

So, final conclusion? I love love love it. Its not perfect, but for $11 and beating out some of my $55 foundations I really cannot gripe one bit

    • You may like it! You would certainly have to use the beauty blender because you will think it is too thick with your fingers. It doesn’t seem to crease in fine lines too much. It does cling to dry skin a tiny bit, but for $11 its worth trying!
